Meopham Valley Vineyard
David and Pauline Grey set up Meopham Valley Vineyard in 1991 with the advice of Gillian Pearkes, an authority on grape growing in England. After a lot of searching a site came up for auction on the North Downs of Kent which seemed a suitable terroir for two of the champagne vine varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The two hectare Kentish vineyard grows a wide variety of grapes that respond well to the local climate. No herbicides or pesticides are used at the vineyard.
Meopham Valley Vineyard's English White, Rosé and Sparkling wines have won numerous awards in local, national and international wine competitions.
In November 2014 David and Pauline retired from the vineyard but continue to sell wine from this website which was grown in Meopham up until the 2014 Harvest. The new owners are Surjit and Ben Bassi. Surjit and Ben have been associated with the vineyard's maintenance since 1996. They plan to keep the vineyard in its present form and also expand it in due course.
Please refer to EVENTS to see where the wine can continue to be purchased in addition to this website.
Each year some hundreds of visitors experience the tours in Happy Valley. They either join one of the scheduled tours which are booked through this website or prearrange a tour direct with the vineyard for their party - see more...
A Harvest Lunch
Meopham has had the benefit of volunteers, some of whom have come on tours, who have expressed the desire to join in the harvest. A well deserved lunch, weather permitting, is taken on the vineyard. If you would like to join in please have a look here.
